Maple Glazed Chai Rice Krispie Treats
Sometimes you just want a quick and easy recipe that doesn’t require you to turn on the oven. That is where Rice Krispies come in. It is a classic no-bake fall recipe that incorporates all of those warm and cozy flavors without the work. The maple glaze is optional, but I really do think it takes these to the next level. Don’t forget to top them with a little flakey salt!
What makes these so gooey?
Achieving the perfect gooey Rice Krispie is about the amount of marshmallow and butter in the recipe. Too often, I find that homemade Rice Krispie recipes leave me with a dry result. This recipe uses 5 tablespoons of butter plus 10 cups of mini marshmallows ensuring that there is ooey gooey marshmallow in each bite. We leave some marshmallows whole (we don’t melt them) so that way there is a bite of fluffy marshmallow throughout the treat!
Can I change the flavor?
Of course! If you just want a traditional Rice Krispie, you can leave out the spices and the glaze in this recipe for a classic treat!
Are these gluten free?
Why yes! Yes, they are! These maple glazed chai Rice Krispie treats are naturally gluten-free. However, it is important when you are making them that you check the labels on your ingredients to make sure that the marshmallows and the type of crispy rice cereal are labeled gluten-free.

- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1/4 tablespoon ground allspice
- 1/4 tablespoon ground cloves
- 1/4 tablespoon ground nutmeg
Maple Glaze
- 1 tablespoon unsalted Butter melted (14g)
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- ½ cup powdered sugar (56g)
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Prepare the pan by lining it with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides so you can lift the bars when they are done. Spray the pan (yes even after lining) with non stick spray
- In a very large pot, add in butter and turn heat to low, when the butter is melted, add in the 8 cups of mini marshmallows
- Stirring frequently, turn the heat up to medium. Let the marshmallows and the butter heat until completely melted. If any marshmallows are still keeping their shape, do not move on to the next step! Melt until thick marshmallowy syrup forms
- Add in the salt and chai spice, mix until smooth
- Add in the rice krispie cereal and mix until marshmallow and cereal are evenly combined. Remove pan from heat
- While the mixture is warm, add in the remaining two cups of mini marshmallows and mix
- Lightly Press this mixture into the prepared pan using a nonstick spatula sprayed with nonstick spray or your hands. Set aside while you make the glaze
Maple Glaze
- In a medium bowl, combine butter and maple syrup. Mix with a spoon.
- Add in salt and confectioner's sugar and mix until mixture is completely smooth. Drizzle over the top of the rice krispies. Let set at least 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
