Christmas Cookie Box 2024
Every year I make hundreds of cookies to give out to my friends and family. The whole baking extravaganza is quite the ordeal and the “cookie box assembly day” is yet another ordeal. Thank you to my sweet Mom and her friend Christina for Costco runs, baking help, dish help, box help and so much more. This year the line up was quite different than last year’s cookie box but a few favorites did make an appearance like my hot chocolate cookie . This post is a complete list of all of the cookies featured in my Christmas cookie boxes this year including those that I did not develop myself. If you are looking for more Holiday Cookie box tips, check out my social media channels where I go through the planning and preparation processes for these boxes!
Christmas Cookie Box Assembly
Classic Butter Cookies
These cookies are MUST in any cookie box. The recipe is super easy to put together, they are tiny, and they have a neutral butter flavor. These attributes make them a fantastic filler cookie in your box!
Chai Gingerbread with Espresso Frosting
These gingerbread cookies are soft and chewy with a lot of spice! The base of this cookie is the Tartine Gingerbread dough recipe combined with the espresso frosting from my gingerbread bake-off. I also prepared this cookie in the classic Tartine way with a simple glaze just in case some of my cookie box recipients were not coffee fanatics (I know, crazy).
Red Velvet Pan-Banging Cookies
This recipe comes from the indomitable Sarah Kieffer and uses her signature “pan-banging” technique. This results in a delightfully chewy red velvet cookie that is not *too* sweet. The cream cheese glaze ties it all together beautifully! I like to add some holly sprinkles to these for a festive look.
Puppy Chow Truffles
A perfect bite-sized treat that brings lots of nostalgia to your cookie box. All of the flavors and textures of the beloved puppy chow but in an elevated truffle form!
Guava Shortbread Bars
One of my absolute favorites in the box! These fruity shortbread bars are SO delicious.
Italian Rainbow Cookies
Ok, I know I said the guava bars were ONE of my favorites but these steal the show. Layers of almond cake with apricot jam (or raspberry jam, if you wish). These Italian Rainbow cookies are an absolute must in my cookie box!
Pretzel Potato Chip Moonpies
This recipe was a new feature in this year’s box that I very much enjoyed. I love a salty/sweet moment and these certainly deliver. My only advice when taking on this recipe is to use a classic large marshmallow NOT jumbo. Additionally, I noticed these had a slightly shorter shelf life than the recipe stated- about 3 days.
Mom Mom’s Linzer Cookies
This recipe has been passed down from my grandmom or “Mom Mom” and uses a very unconventional method of hardboiled egg yolks in the dough. A recipe screenshot can be found in the video linked here.
Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Snaps
Inspired by the milk bar recipe, these chocolate caramel pretzel snaps are traditionally topped with candy canes and dipped in white chocolate with peppermint extract. In my version, we left out the peppermint so keep this in mind when you follow the recipe linked above!
Homemade Nutter Butters
A fun addition to your holiday cookie box! These crispy peanut wafers are filled with a thick and creamy peanut butter filling.
